Footnotes

Robert Strange (1725-1792) was a member of the Academy of St Luke in Rome, and the Royal Academy at Paris, and his reputation as an engraver in Britain led to him being knighted in 1787. "Strange engraved with unusual clarity and delicacy and produced some beautiful prints, especially those after Titian, Correggio, and Van Dyck" (ODNB).
