Footnotes

An account of an expedition undertaken by the Commonwealth navy, under the command of Admiral Penn and General Venables, to seize the Spanish West-India islands, of which the eventual prize was Jamaica. The anonymous author, "an eye-witnesse", outlines the reasons for the failure of the ventures ("... they were overcome by the subtilty and deceit of the Spaniards at Jamaica, aswell as they had been lately vanquished by their launces at Hispaniola..."), and provides a brief description of the islands.
