MILTON (JOHN)

Colasterion: A Reply to a Nameles Answer against the Doctrine and Discipline of Divorce, first edition, with blank A1, modern crushed half morocco [Wing M2099], small 4to, [London, Matthews Simmons?], 1645

Footnotes

Milton's pamphlet attacks the anonymous "trivial author" of An Answer to a Book, Intituled, The Doctrine and Discipline of Divorce, over the arguments about divorce, but also the "low and home-spun expression of his Mother English". Milton thought that William Prynne, Herbert Palmer and Joseph Caryl were amongst those involved with the writing of An Answer.
