This handsome album includes an autograph sentiment by Lavater, initialled ("L") within engraved and pale green wash border ("Jamais accuse le Sort! c'est toujours toi-même – qui merite la reprimande – corrige toi – et le sort sera ton ami le plus intime"), dated 20 August 1792; as well as an autograph free-front by Admiral Nelson (signed "Nelson" and headed Plymouth Dock, 19 January 1801, to Edward Walker of the Circus, Exeter, small section cut out), an autograph verse quotation of seven lines [from Tales of the Hall] signed by George Crabbe, opening: "Heaven would not all this Woe for Man intend"; plus autograph material by Duggald Stewart, William Cowper and others.
