An inlaid iron miniature vase
By Komai of Kyoto, Meiji Period
Worked entirely in typical gold nunomezogan, the body scattered with variously-shaped panels enclosing sailing ships, ho-o, butterflies, a torii gate, birds in flight above an iris pond and thatched dwellings, all reserved on a ground of tightly-clustered vines, beneath a neck of other floral and geometric motifs, signed Nihon koku Kyoto ju Komai sei. 11cm (4 5/8in) high.
