9A rare White Star Line demitasse and saucer.

By Spode Copeland, pattern Rd.580303, R.4332. Decorated in Cobalt blue and gilt glaze, with the monogram for the Oceanic Steam Navigation Company in the centre of the saucer. The bases marked for Stonier & Co. and stamped "White Star Line".

Footnotes

The registration number dates from 1911 and this pattern would have been employed by White Star Line on the Olympic and her sister ships Titanic and Majestic and may have been in use until the Olympic was broken up in 1935 at the time of the merger with Cunard. Never very common, this expensive pattern was likely employed in luxury suites and VIP lounges.
