Footnotes

The brig Selina Jane was built by the Arbroath Shipbuilding Company at Arbroath in 1859. Registered at 216 tons and measuring 100 feet in length with a 24 foot beam, she was first owned by Duranty & Co. of Liverpool who traded her out of the Mersey under Captain Craigie. Subsequently sold to Nuttalls, also of Liverpool, she began sailings to India and then, in 1866, to South America. Sold to another Liverpool owner, J. Thomas, in 1868, she remained in the South American trade until disappearing from record in the mid-1870s.
