A large cased model of a German Type IXC Submarine.

The model made in the 1950's with solid hull, painted grey to the waterline and maroon below, with a black boot top. Fitted with twin four blade propellers, bow planes, torpedo tubes. Conning tower with twin light machine guns and main gun. Mounted on brass posts in a mahogany display case. 76x14x24ins. (193x36x61cm)

Footnotes

The type IXC was a long range ocean-going submarine, afurther development from the Type IXB, with further fuel capacity giving a range of 13,400 nautical miles. Equipped to fire torpedoes or lay mines, the type IXC omitted the control room periscope of the earlier model. 54 examples were built between 1939-1942.
