A Builder's Model of the MV Diplomat 1953

Built to a scale of 1:96. Solid hull with four blade brass propeller, painted black to the waterline and maroon below, with a pink boot top and grey decks. White gunwales, rails and superstructure with accommodation ladder slung out on starboard side. Painted draft marks at bow, stern and amidships with Plimsol line. Fine details include anchors, cable and winches, hatches, cargo derricks and winches. Central superstructure with open flying bridge and wings, fitted with binnacle and DF loop aerial. Two pairs of ship's boats on davits flank the single funnel painted in Harrison Line livery. Aft hatches with cargo derricks and winches. Aft superstructure with emergency steering position, wheel binnacle and telegraph. The superstructures fitted with tropical awning supports. Mounted on posts on an oak baseboard with an engraved acrylic Builder's plaque for William Doxford & Sons. With a glazed cover. 68.5x17x25.5ins. (174 x 43 x 65cm)
