The State Coach was originally commissioned for the Duke of Cambridge, brother of William IV. Having been re-furbished in 1968 - 69, it was used by the Queen for the opening of the General Assembly in Edinburgh on 20th of May 1969.
The coach was last used in 1994 for the Order of the Thistle service and the state visit of the King and Queen of Norway to Holyrood Palace.
