A mid-Victorian Regimental bed rug exhibited in the Glasgow Exhibition 1865/6

With quilted border of diamond shapes in yellow, red, white and black, with central yellow border with embroidered foliate designs, urns issuing flowers and feather bonnets, the central section with Victorian crown flanked by sheathed sabres and foliate scrolls above an embroidered depiction of a Royal Navy sailor with hat in hand, with fouled anchor and tar barrel to his left and Union jack behind, above an ivory bar worked with 'Seventy Second Duke of Albany's Own Highlanders', above a depiction of regiment colours, the left hand embroidered 'M. Macleod, lithow 18', the right embroidered 'Serjeant 72nd Highlanders, E. Indies 65', over an ivory bar centred with a Stag's head and '72nd' above, the bottom section of the embroidery worked with a depiction of a Royal Navy ship above a red bar worked with thistles and foliage, sold together with the bronze exhibition medal on one side 'Glasgow Industrial exhibition 1865 - 66' and on the obverse 'Bed Rug. Malcolm Mcloed'.
