A 19th century silver mounted dirk

R.G. Lawrie, Glasgow & Edinburgh, Glasgow 1921
26.5cm blade, with faceted back edge, wood carved basket weave hilt with silver studs and foliate mounts, the pommel set with a citrine in its leather covered scabbard, silver foliate and thistle mounts, with companion knife and fork mounted en suite and frog, together with a modern skean dhu,

Footnotes

This dirk was once the property of the famous Pipe Major Angus Macdonald, Scots Guards, Pipe Major Macdonald is famed for his musical compositions and playing skill, a memorial plaque has been placed in the Guards Chapel.
