John Row (c.1598–1672), Church of Scotland minister at the grammar school of Perth, was "an accomplished Hebraist and in 1644 published a Hebrew grammar and vocabulary at Glasgow. This work was so highly regarded that the 1646 General Assembly passed an act recommending its general use" (ODNB). It is the first book printed in Scotland with Hebrew characters.
