An early Victorian silver cup

By Barnard Bros., London 1836
Of inverted bell shape on shaped circular foot embossed with acanthus leaves, the lower body panelled and with various flower heads in high relief, flared rim, the interior gilt, in fitted wooden box, retailed by Hamilton & Inches of Edinburgh, height 20cm, weight 15.9oz.

Footnotes

Engraved with the cyphered initials of the vendor's grandfather together with a Duchess' coronet above the cyphered initials of the Duchess of Roxburghe, Susanna Stephania, wife of the 6th Duke. The vendor's grandfather was employed by the Duke and Duchess of Roxburghe as head butler, based at Broxmouth Park, Dunbar and also at Floors Castle, Kelso.
