The 1882 Glasgow Challenge cup

By White Sons & Co, Sheffield 1882
On circular foot, the ovoid body with two embossed medieval cartouche, one with repousse scene of bowling the other with presentation inscription, the top of the body with scrolling foliate design, the shaped neck with monogram, the lid with finial formed as a man bowling, the handles scrolling with stud and acanthus leaf detail both resting on a classical head beneath a lawn bowl, gilt interior to body and lid, height 45cm, weight 36.8oz.
