Each bowl profusely painted to the exterior with an array of flowers including cherry blossom, tulips and pansies, painted to the interior with a floral vignette, the saucer stands with similar decoration to both sides, each piece with hand painted JMK initials, a gate motif and a rabbit

The green gate motif used on the base of each piece refers to the name of J M King's house, 'Green Gate' in Kirkcudbright. The small rabbit motif is a reference to a stone rabbit called Pushka, which was placed outside King's back door.
