Peploe visited Cassis again in 1930, and this example vividly captures the sunbleached, dusty atmosphere. The contrast between bands of shade and full sunlight further enhance the decorative impact.
All of the Colourists produced images of the beautiful coastal town of Cassis, near Marseille. Although they generally favoured the harbour, Peploe and Fergusson depicted panoramas of the town and Cadell painted a number of street scenes. Maclauchlan Milne was also a visitor in the early 1920s.
