A Caucasian Kindjal
Late 19th/Early 20th Century

With sharply tapering double-edged blade etched with foliate scrollwork within the converging fullers over most of its length on each side and stamped with circular maker's mark of Osman on one side at the forte, waisted hilt entirely covered with nielloed silver chased with arabesque designs against a punched ground, and set with two studs on the outside decorated with filigree, in original wood-lined silver scabbard decorated en suite along the outside, the inside with two open panels lined in leather and with nielloed maker's and owner's names in Arabic at the top, nielloed suspension mounts, and spherical terminal (some wear overall)
