With bright slightly curved pipe-back blade with double-edged spear-point, the forte etched with foliage against a gilt ground on both sides enclosing 'Eisenhauer' on one side and 'Damaststahl' on the other, the back etched and gilt with retailer's name 'Mohr & Spiyer, Berlin', regulation nickel-plated half-basket guard of flat curved bars on the outside with applied white-metal regimental badge, rounded pommel and back-piece in one, ribbed fishskin-covered grip bound with brass wire, and bullion sword-knot, in original iron scabbard with ring for suspension

The 1852 pattern sabre originally had two suspension rings however following changes to the regulations in 1879 one was removed and evidence of this can be seen on the scabbard
