Turkish Silver Marks, Probably Reign Of Mahmud II (1803-39)
With French swamped twist octagonal sighted barrels russet over their upper surfaces and each decorated with gilt foliage at the muzzle and breech, the latter numbered '1' and '2' respectively in gold and deeply struck with barrelsmith's mark 'A.B' crowned beneath, octagonal breeches each with three gold fleur-de-lys between gold lines, and gilt touch-holes, engraved and gilt tangs each incorporating a back-sight, rounded locks chiselled and parcel-gilt with foliage, each with pseudo 'Wilson' signature and with gold-lined rainproof pan, chiselled cocks in the English manner and engraved steels in the French manner, figured full stocks profusely inlaid overall with silver wire and pellets, cast and chased silver mounts comprising trophy of arms side-plates, foliate escutcheons, spurred pommels with trophies of arms and foliage, trigger-guards en suite, silver ramrod-pipes, and false ramrods en suite with the stocks (2)
