A Turkish Flintlock Blunderbuss With Silver-Gilt Mounts
Probably Reign Of Selim III (1789-1807)

With russet two-stage barrel chiselled with foliage at the flared muzzle and at the breech, the former encircled by turned lines between dog-tooth borders, rounded lock and cock chiselled with foliage, full stock entirely covered in silver-gilt panels cast, pierced and chased in relief with symmetrical designs of flowering scrolling foliage, secured by pins and against a ground of silver or white-metal sheets, the butt involving a star-shaped boss en suite on both sides, barrel mounts en suite with the stock (one with minor damage, one missing), false ramrod with foliate engraved tip, gilt suspension ring opposite the lock, and retaining most of its original gilding (trigger-guard missing, barrel and lock with some surface rust)
