An Indian 28-Bore Matchlock Gun
18th Century

With russet twist sighted barrel slightly flared at the muzzle and chiselled with a cartouche at the breech extending as a slightly raised sighting flat for most of its length along the top, and retained by five iron bands pierced with arabesques, back-sight, plain tang, pan with domed pivoting cover, iron side-plates secured by transverse pins on brass floret-shaped washers and each pierced en suite with the barrel bands front and rear, hardwood full stock inlaid with a small ivory panel on each side of the butt, iron trigger-plate with pierced finials, butt-cap formed of sections of ivory, pierced arabesque trigger, sling-loops, and original ramrod with baluster tip
