A Persian Steel Kulah Khud And Associated Dhal
Qajar, Late 19th Century

The first with domed skull decorated overall with swept alternate panels of chiselled foliage and silver-damascened scrollwork, the rim bordered by ovoidal and circular panels of Persian verses in cursive script, fitted with two plume-holders, central spike of diamond section, adjustable nasal, and vandyked camail of butted rungs; the second of convex circular form, with four domed bosses and an applied brass border, the outer surface decorated en suite with the kulah khud, the interior lined with fabric (both with surface patination) (2)
