A Persian Circular Steel Dhal
Qajar, 19th Century

Of convex form, with four engraved and damascened domed bosses, and an applied brass border, decorated centrally with cartouche-shaped panels each linked together and damascened with gold scrollwork within line borders, all against a profusely chiselled ground of Persian horsemen hunting animals including hares and wolves, the outer border with ovoidal and circular panels of chiselled silver-damascened Persian verses in cursive script between borders of foliage and silver-damascened running arabesques (some wear overall)
