A Highly Unusual Indian Silver-Mounted Falchion Of The Nawab Of Oudh
19th Century

With very finely watered curved blade widening towards the double-edged point, the back of the blade with double flute numbered '038' in gold-inlaid Arabic numerals, hilt cast and chased with foliage and comprising short langets, oval side-guard involving the arms of Oudh, those on the underside between lion and dragon supporters, curved tapering knuckle-guard with ring for a tassel at the top, chased lion-head pommel in the round, and wooden grip covered in rayskin, in later blackened wooden scabbard with original silver locket, chape and suspension mounts en suite with the hilt, the last each with a ring for suspension
