A Rare French Tortoiseshell Sportsman's Snuff-Flask, And An English Oval Silver Box
The First 18th Century, The Second With London Silver Hallmarks For 1906

The first in the form of a powder-flask, with moulded body of slightly curved tapering ovoidal section inlaid in engraved silver on one side with Actaeon and Diana in a landscape, framed by a fruiting vine and with a sporting trophy suspended from a ribbon at the top, and on the other with a crowned vacant escutcheon between stag supporters, framed by a fruiting vine with a differing sporting trophy at the top, rounded base with flat oval inlaid with pierced and engraved silver, and lid en suite (minor damage) and inlaid with a sporting trophy flanking a roundel; the second with hinged lid set with tortoiseshell inlaid in engraved silver with a basket of flowers between swags suspended from a ribbon (2)
