A South Indian Dagger-Cane
19th Century

With slender tapering single-edged blade, curved hardwood handle with brass ferrule and inlaid with two brass lines along the back, the finial carved in the round as a hound's head wearing a brass collar and with white bone teeth (one missing) and inset bone eyes, in original hardwood scabbard of tapering circular section forming the cane shaft and bound with bands of twisted brass wire secured by dome-headed brass nails, brass top mount with spring button catch, and brass terminal formed as a spike of tapering diamond section
