An English Silver-Hilted Hunting Sword
By Loxham, Royal Exchange, Indistinct London Silver Hallmarks, Circa 1740

Similar to the last, with curved bright blade double-edged towards the point and stamped 'IHS Solingen' between punched marks within the fuller along the back edge at the forte on both sides, rear quillon with grotesque head terminal, and prominent turned button, in original wooden scabbard covered in tooled brown leather with silver locket and chape en suite with the hilt, the former pricked with maker's details on one side and with frog-hook cast and chased with a grotesque mask
