With highly polished waisted double-edged blade (areas of rust patination) of flattened diamond section, the medial ridge interrupted by two shallow ovals on each side, rectangular ricasso signed in full within the shallow central fuller on one side, the hilt comprising beaked gilt-metal quillons engraved with acanthus foliage above a border of dots and wrigglework, and swelling ivory grip of tapering circular section carved with a band of ribbonwork enclosing florets above the quillons and beneath the domed pommel, the latter carved with fruiting vine-leaves, in original wooden scabbard covered in dark brown morocco leather with shaped gilt-metal locket and chape en suite with the hilt, the former with frog-button, and retaining virtually all its original gilding
