Push-forward snap-action underlever, rebounding sidelocks with dolphin hammers, percussion fences, best bouquet and foliate-scroll engraving, well-figured stock (repaired at hand and broken), the replacement barrels with game-rib engraved H. Hodgson, Ipswich & Bury St. Edmunds

The makers have kindly confirmed that the gun was completed circa 1876 for George William Francis Sackville Russell, Marquess of Tavistock (later 10th Duke of Bedford) (1852-1893)
