A 20-bore bar-in-wood sidelock hammer gun by William Powell & Son, no. 7018

The action incorporating a variation of W. Powell's toplever patent no. 1163 of 7th May 1864, rebounding sidelocks with border scroll engraving, figured stock (probably replaced), the skeletal action-bar enclosing the bar-in-wood at the forend knuckle, (horn forend-tip missing), the browned damascus barrels (slightly loose on action) with game-rib engraved William Powell & Son, 13 Carr's Lane, Birmingham

Footnotes

The makers have kindly confirmed that the gun was completed in 1879 and that the barrel length is original. The action is described in the ledger as 'our patent treble-lockfast snap-action'
