Footnotes

The steam tug Hector was part of the Southampton, Isle of Wight and South of England Royal Mail Steam Packet Company, and was built in 1903. Hector's registered dimensions were 130ft LOA and 382 tons with 1,400 IHP. This large, twin-screw tug provided a small saloon for general passengers and a smaller saloon for the ladies, while on deck a number of buoyant seats were set out to give some degree of comfort to passengers sitting in this area. There was a small hold forward and a heavy derrick on the mast to handle baggage.
