built in 1/8th inch scale with a composite hull painted with a dual waterline in rust and salmon colors, black topsides, laid paper decks with the planking lines drawn in and detailed with chocks, bollards, anchor windlass, railings, line reels, cargo hatches, cargo masts and booms, ladders, built up bridge and cabin structure, running lights funnel in black, boats on davits, docking helm with binnacle and wheel, flagstaff with a red duster, brass propellers and other details. Displayed on a pair of turned brass pedestals on a mahogany base with inlaid details and a glass cover with brass trim.

Footnotes

The S.S. Caledonian Monarch was a British passenger freighter operating between 1928-1942. She had principal measurements of 430.4ft LOA x 56ft beam x 27.9ft draft, and weighing 5,851 tons. She was owned by the Monarch Steamship Company Ltd. of Glasgow, Scotland. While sailing from Halifax to London the Caledonian Monarch was torpedoed and sunk off of the coast of Loch Ewe, Scotland by the German U-boat U-588 on January 22, 1942. The boat and all 48 crew members were lost.
