An Isleworth deep pickle shell, circa 1770

In the shape of a single deep scallop shell, boldly painted in bright blue with a flowering peony spray with a diaper border broken by flowerheads, a different trellis pattern around the handle, 9.5cm long (chipped and cracked)

Footnotes

Illustrated by Geoffrey Godden, Isleworth Porcelain in Victorian Collections, ECC Trans, Vol 20, part 1, p. 81, pl 7. The style of painting is related to the William Goulding bowl, dated 1770, a documentary piece that has led to the identification of other Isleworth porcelain.
