Footnotes
Provenance: Simon Spero exhibition 2001, catalogue fig. 43. Illustrated by Geoffrey Godden, English Blue and White Porcelain (2004), colour pl 61 and pl. 299A. Another example is in the British Museum (1928.2-13.3), and a further teabowl and saucer, in the National Museum of Wales, is illustrated by Geoffrey Godden (2004, op cit), pl. 299. This shows minute differences, indicating more than one copper plate was in use at the factory. A fragment of this very distinctive pattern was found on the Isleworth site, leading to a reattribution of what has long been a problem pattern. The present example is also illustrated by Massey, Pearce and Howard, Isleworth Pottery and Porcelain (2003), pp. 68-69, fig. 105.
