Quatrelobed oval shape with an elaborate twig finial sprouting flowers and leaves, painted in blue with two porcelain bowls containing flowering peonies, prunus and with a bird perched on each, alternating with two simple Chinese landscapes, within a border of formal diaper panels, 36cm long, workman's mark of three short lines in blue
Footnotes
Geoffrey Godden has noted on the collection label attached to this tureen 'Cover only, but what a cover!' The landscape vignettes closely resemble the reverse decoration from the 'Plantation' pattern, but in all other respects the decoration on this cover is otherwise unrecorded.
