An early Worcester tart pan, circa 1754

Of distinctive form with a flared rim, painted in blue with the 'Patty Pan Angler' pattern, the central Chinese riverscape featuring an angler standing in a sampan beneath a willow tree, another figure in a boat and an island in the distance, the border with three flowering branches alternating with tiny insects, the under-rim painted with three leafy twigs, 11.8cm diam, workman's mark (a small chip and associated hairline)

These early tart pans were made in several different sizes, see Branyan, French and Sandon (1989), pattern I.B.24A.
