The rare version with animal-head thumbrests on the scroll handles, the two pointed lips with shell moulding, the sides embossed with garlands of oak leaves entwined to form panels painted in blue with Chinese scenes, the interior with a riverscape with a two-storey pavilion and figures in sampans, the lips with fancy trellis and floral scroll ornament, 22.1cm wide, TF workman's mark (one tiny rim chip only)

The price list of Worcester's London warehouse records that 'Two-handle boats' were made in three sizes, the largest selling for 48 shillings per dozen wholesale or four shillings each. Some of these rare, larger examples have the animal-head thumbrests also seen on the sauceboat, lot 54 in this sale.
