A Limehouse large sauceboat, circa 1746-48

Of wide, six-sided form, the flat base with an everted footrim, the sides moulded with overlapping shell-like leaves, the handle with a leaf thumbrest, the two reserved side panels painted in dark blue with European landscapes, one with a distant cottage viewed through woodland, the other with a ruined monument, the interior painted with roses and buds on leafy stems, vine leaves by the lip and handle, 21.8cm long (cracked and chipped)
