A rare Caughley plate, circa 1780-90

Moulded with a rocaille shell edge gently feathered in blue, the centre printed in blue with the 'Gillyflower' pattern of a carnation and scattered flower sprigs, 21.5cm diam (broken in half and restuck)

Footnotes

This very rare form was discussed in the Newsletter of the Caughley Society, no. 29, March 2007. C and S marked examples are recorded. This version of the Gillyflower pattern is copied from Worcester but Caughley have used a delicate transfer print instead of Worcester's hand painting.
