A Caughley small basket, circa 1780

Of oval shape, the tapering sides pierced with trellis and applied with florets at the intersections, the ropetwist handles with flower and leaf terminals including 'Hot-Cross-Bun Buds', the centre printed in blue with the 'Pinecone' pattern, the border with a lambrequin pattern also apparently printed, 18cm long, printed C mark (minor crack amongst the piercing, slight loss to applied leaves)

Footnotes

A similar, slightly larger basket bearing the embossed initials IT is illustrated by Geoffrey Godden, Caughley and Worcester Porcelains (1969), pl. 90. These initials relate to John Toulouse, who presumably introduced the shape to Caughley along with the distinctive type of flower modelling including 'Hot-Cross-Bun Buds'.
