The cabbage-leaf body of unusual round form, the mask lip with a sad mouth and twisted beard, printed in blue with 'The Bouquets' pattern of three large floral sprays, the neck with two further small sprays, rococo ornament in blue on the handle, 19.2cm high, printed C mark
Footnotes
Most Caughley cabbage leaf mask jugs have ovoid bodies, a feature that distinguishes them from Worcester of the same period. The Bouquets pattern was copied from Worcester and occurs mostly on cabbage leaf jugs. A plain mask jug bearing the pattern together with an inscription dated 1792 is illustrated by Geoffrey Godden, Caughley and Worcester Porcelains (1969), pl. 134.
