A Caughley creamboat, circa 1780-90

Of 'Gadroon Boat' shape, small in size with a pronounced thumbrest on the scroll handle, the rim and footrim with gadroon moulding, painted in dark blue with huts, rocks and pylon trees on simple islands, 10.1cm long, star mark impressed under the footrim

A similar example is illustrated by Geoffrey Godden, English Blue and White Porcelain (2004), p. 477, pl. 601 (left). The impressed star mark is a unique feature seen only on these delightful Caughley creamboats.
