The circular body moulded with overlapping cabbage leaves, the cylindrical neck with a border of leaves and berries below the rim, the elaborate scrolled handle with an acanthus thumbrest, printed in blue with sprays of flowers surrounded by insects in flight, the eyes and nose of the mask spout picked out in blue, a hole unusually pierced through the footrim at the time of manufacture, 22.7cm high
Footnotes
Illustrated by Geoffrey Godden, English Blue and White Porcelain (2004), pl 373, p 298. A Lowestoft copy of a Worcester jug, the spout being rather naively modelled than that on the Worcester original. The pierced hole in the footrim, however, is not a Worcester feature
