Footnotes
Provenance: The Gilbert Bradley Collection. Illustrated by Geoffrey Godden, Lowestoft Porcelains (1985), pl 102, p 90. The basic design of a trailing peony issuing from either rockwork, scrollwork or a boldly painted mound is often seen on Lowestoft porcelain of the early period, with considerable variations in the details. Compare the design on this lot with those on the mug, Lot 140 and the small teapot and cover, Lot 137.
