Of small size and baluster form with a scrolled handle, the spout applied with acanthus leaves, the domed cover with an acorn finial, painted on both sides in bright blue with a stylised Chinese island, a pagoda, a zig-zag fence and a pine tree surrounded by other plants and trees, insects in flight above, a cell border below the rim, 22.4cm high, patch marks (spout chipped, cover cracked, knop chipped) (2)

Illustrated by Geoffrey Godden, English Blue and White Porcelain (2004), colour plate 50, p 195 and pl 239. Exhibited at the Potteries Museum. The handle form and moulded acanthus leaves on the spout are Derby characteristics. A mug of the same pattern is illustrated at pl 241 and a variation of the design on the inside of a bowl at pl 238. The bright tone of blue, good quality of potting and small size make this pot particularly pleasing
