A Liverpool coffee pot and cover, circa 1785-99

Attributed to a member of the Pennington family, of pear shape with a reeded spout, high-domed cover and an exuberant scrolled handle with a comma at the lower terminal, printed in dark blue with the 'Broseley' pattern, 24.5cm high (2)

Footnotes

A coffee pot of very similar form is illustrated by Bernard Watney, Liverpool Porcelain (1997), fig 388, p 96 and colour plate 31b, attributed to John Pennington. The 'Broseley' print was presumably copied from contemporary Caughley porcelain
