A problem reeded coffee pot, probably Isleworth, circa 1775-85

Of elegant pear shape on a turned foot, deeply moulded with vertical ribs and with a lightly fluted spout, the S-shape handle with a slight thumbrest, printed in blue with two very different patterns, one side with the 'Fence' pattern, the reverse with the 'Three Flowers' pattern, 15.9cm high (cover lacking, cracked)

Footnotes

Provenance: Mr and Mrs Roger Edmundson Collection, illustrated by Geoffrey Godden, English Blue and White Porcelain, pls. 294 and 295. As with the bowl, lot 98 in this sale, this piece combines two separate popular patterns on the same piece, a feature that does not occur at Worcester or Caughley, for example. This helps point to an Isleworth attribution for this coffee pot. No other example is presently recorded of this shape or of the Three Flowers pattern on a piece with Isleworth characteristics.
