An Isleworth large bowl, circa 1770-80

Painted in blue with the 'Dragon' pattern, a single contorted beast in the centre reaches for flames that engulf its quest, its detached tail encircling the exterior of the bowl among cloud motifs, 19.7cm diam (broken in half and riveted)

Footnotes

This second Isleworth version of the Dragon pattern is related to shards found on the factory site at Hounslow, see a fragmentary bowl illustrated by Massey, Pearce and Howard, Isleworth Pottery and Porcelain (2003), p. 112. Other factories made similar versions of the pattern, however.
