Two wood and one buffalo horn netsuke

19th century
The first a dark wood study of a seated mountain lion, his curling tail forming the himotoshi, eyes of inlaid horn and teeth in bone, inscribed in an oval reserve Tomokazu; the next a dark wood netsuke carved as a fox trapping a hunter beneath his oversized scrotum, signed Issai; the third carved from buffalo horn as a swimming catfish, eyes inlaid with bone and translucent horn.
